IX Assembly of VMY Brazil 2024
The IX Assembly of the Vincentian Marian Youth (VMY) Brazil 2024 was an event of great importance and significance for all the participants. Held on July 19, 20, and 21 in the Chapel of the Shrine of the Miraculous Medal, located in the Tijuca district of Rio de Janeiro, it brought together young people, Daughters of Charity, and priests from the Congregation of the Mission.
During the assembly, young people and advisors from different regions of Brazil were warmly welcomed by the VMY members of the Rio de Janeiro Province. The moments were marked by unity, sharing, communion, conviviality, strengthening the bonds, and renewing the participants’ hearts.
The event offered talks and formative activities, with emphasis on the central theme that permeated the days of conviviality: “Identity – Commitment – Synodality: light your lamp at the source of the charism,” and the inspiring motto: “Youth on the journey with Mary.” These moments were aimed at renewing the faith of the participants and strengthening the mission and spread of the association throughout the country, keeping the flame of the charism of the Vincentian Marian Youth alive.
After dialogues, prayers, and planning, the new council for the next four years was elected, with the following composition:
- President: Suerllen Marinho de Oliveira (Recife Province)
- Vice-President: Marcílio Araripe Melo (Fortaleza Province)
- Secretary: Kátia Maria Marques da Silva (Recife Province)
- Vice-Secretary: Natália Raposo (Recife Province)
- Treasurer: Taíssa Vaz Rangel (Rio de Janeiro Province)
- Vice-treasurer: Brendo Palheta Pena (Amazonia Province)
- Member: Victória Fernanda Barbosa (Amazonia Province)
With hearts full of joy and divine inspiration, the participants of the assembly left with the determination to take the light they had received to enlighten lives and fulfill the mission of the Marian Youth Association in Brazil.
In summary, the IX Assembly of VMY Brazil in 2024 was a milestone of fraternity, spiritual renewal, and commitment to Vincentian values, thus strengthening the mission of the Vincentian Marian Youth in Brazil. An event that reaffirms, Be, Love, and Build.
