VMY Slovakia: VFCAP Formation, Nightfever, and Christmas meeting with the International President

23/12/2016

In the middle of December 2016, the Vincentian Family in Slovakia held a session on the Formation Program of Collaboration of the Vincentian Family (VFCAP). Yancarlos, the International President of the Vincentian Marian Youth was present as one of the trainers of the program. The occasion was timely to meet some groups of the VMY in this special country.

VMY Slovakia had a special participation in the event called “Nightfever” held at the church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary (Farský Kostol Navštívenia panny Márie) in Nitra, on December 16. Members of the VMY were outside the church, on the streets and closed places with candles inviting people to enter and pray in front of the Holy Sacrament.

Surprisingly, one of the people walking in the street in front of the church was Yancarlos Carrasco who was accompanied by the members of the International Vincentian Family and was invited to participate in the prayerful event, They shared the prayer and some more people were invited to get in and praise the Lord.

The Misevi community of Slovakia, composed of some members and former members of the VMY convoked to Yancarlos to share with them the experience of a community life style while he was the volunteer for the English Speaking countries at the VMY International Secretariat. It was a moment of questions and answers sharing some experiences with the group who is getting reading to go abroad in a mission to Honduras.

Also invited by the VMY Slovakia National Council President Hanna Gvozdjáková, Yancarlos participated in the Christmas meeting of the groups of the VMY at Saint Vincent Church in Bratislava. Meeting pods are essentially a little room within a room. They are primarily used for meetings, hence the name, but can be used for all kinds of purposes. They prepared a modern version of the Nativity, showing a young Mary and Joseph waiting and looking for a place to have the baby Jesus. They also sang typical Carol songs and Yancarlos shared with them about the different realities of the VMY around the World.

It was really a great visit and shared experience with the members of the VMY who actively rejoice, pray and celebrate the vesper of the birth of the Baby Jesus.

God Bless VMY Slovakia!
