XIII NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF VMY ECUADOR

Last November 1, 2 and 3, 2024, the XIII National Assembly of VMY Ecuador took place in Quito, with the participation of 55 members, including 15 consecrated members, 10 Marian promises, advisors and coordinators from different localities and zones of the country.

The Assembly had as theme: “One same history, one same identity” and as motto: “To Jesus with Mary, Pilgrims of Hope.” Its main objective was to elect the new National Council that will guide the Association in the period 2024-2027, with the commitment to know and accompany the realities of the localities and zones of Ecuador.

The first day began with the Holy Inaugural Eucharist, followed by the “Youth Commitment and Leadership” training led by Fr. Xavier Romero, who inspired the young people to strengthen their commitment to the VMY mission. During the morning, a space was dedicated to share the realities that young people live in the different communities, which allowed a valuable exchange of experiences. The day ended with an emotional recount of the activities carried out in 2022 by the outgoing Council, reaffirming the work and commitment done.

The second day of the Assembly began with the rosary to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and continued with a special video conference on the “Role of the Lay Advisor,” for which we had the collaboration of Fr. Diego Martinez CM, Advisor of the VMY Latin American Team, and Daniela Quinchaman, Coordinator of the VMY Latin American Team from Chile. After this, the localities and zones continued presenting their realities, and the outgoing Council presented the video of their activities for 2023. This day ended with the Holy Eucharist, followed by a cultural evening that turned out to be a unique moment, where the youth had the opportunity to pay an emotional tribute to their deceased relatives through a moment of prayer, and they could enjoy the cuisine and culture of the different cities of Ecuador.

The third and final day of the Assembly began with the Holy Eucharist and continued with the presentation of the report of the outgoing Council, who shared their activities during their last year of service, then the general report for the period 2021-2024 was presented. Once this process was completed, the Assembly was formally installed, the quorum was verified, and, with great enthusiasm, voting began to elect the new National Council for the next three years.

The new National Council was formed as follows: Karla Rosero as president, Elian Espinel as vice president, Ariana Burgos as secretary, Ángeles Osorio as treasurer, Alexander Quiñonez as Representative for Formation and Apostolate, Dayana Lanchimba as Representative for the Vincentian Family, and the national advisors previously appointed by their visitors: Sr. Nelly Díaz, DC and Fr. Jesús Celi CM.
