Day Five of the General Assembly

On this last day of our Assembly we gathered in the Assembly Room where we began the session with prayer that had been prepared by the delegates from France. At the conclusion of morning prayer we began to deal with the work that had been placed before us. The session was presided by Yancarlos de Jesús Carrasco, the recently elected President of the International VMY.

During the morning session we elected the lay members of the new International Council. Attentive to the criteria with regard to geographical representation and yet able to propose any person with “full right” for these positions, the members of the assembly elected the following: Andrew Ghaly (Egypt), Rafael Cruz (Brazil), Ricardo Alexandre Sousa (Portugal) and Bienvenú Fouda (Cameroon). All of these individuals accepted the service that has been entrusted to them by the participants in this Assembly.

Yasmine Cajuste (the former International President) presented Yancarlos Carrasco with a check that represented the amount of money collected during the campaign “Something more from you”. In this regard certain individuals and institutions were mentioned by name because of their outstanding contribution to this campaign.

There followed a discussion of the postulatum that had been proposed by various countries and further discussion on the Final Document. That document and the minutes of the Assembly were approved. After thanking all those persons who contributed to the work of this Assembly (translators, secretaries, International Council …), the International President closed the Assembly.

The final celebration of the Eucharist that had been prepared by the delegates from Panama was presided by Fr. Irvin Amaro (International Subdirector). He blessed the members of the new International Council and prayed that they might continue to fulfill the mandate that Mary had given to the Association during her apparition in the year 1830.

The day came to a conclusion with the festive celebration that was prepared by the delegates from Europe and the Middle East. At the same time some of delegates began the long journey back to their homes where they would communicate to other young men and women the message that had been communicated during these days of Assembly which took place in the city of Salamanca.
