Vincentian Marian Youth Group extends its membership in Solomon Islands with two new groups

22/02/2019

VMY group in the Solomon Islands is experiencing some weaknesses in its national group due to several different reasons. However the existing groups are still maintaining their individual group meetings and programs. At a monthly bases Bro Gideon Tahunieti CM and Fr Lawrence Kinika CM are doing visitations to celebrate mass with the youth just to keep them going in their individual groups. Regardless of these shadows from the national group, VMY is now extended to another diocese where a new group was formed last October 2018 under the guidance of the sisters of Charity from Zagreb Croatia who are residing in Buma, Auki Diocese, Solomon Islands. The Sisters of Charity are running a formation program for young ladies and with this formation they introduced the VMY group with both young people both boys and girls participate. From October 2018 they started to introduce the VMY group in their Parish of residence where they did several gatherings and did advent retreat for the group. According to Sr. Veronika Cibaric who is currently in charge of the group, the formally started the year on the 16th of February. From there they will see how the group will go for the first time. We hope and pray that these groups be maintained and we thank the service and help of the missionary sisters from Croatia.
