In Brazil, JMV Kitchen reaches the mark of five thousand meals delivered.

In the city of Cascavel, in the state of Ceará, Brazil, Juventude Mariana Vicentina maintains a Community Kitchen from Monday to Friday, with the daily distribution of 100 lunches. The project was inaugurated on October 18, 2023, in an event attended by local authorities and representatives of the Vincentian Family.

Since then, there have been monthly meetings for common prayer and the formation of volunteers and collaborators, and last December 21, a Christmas Dinner, with the delivery of toys for the children and sheets for the beneficiaries of the Kitchen. Having passed only two months of operation of the project, on December 29, the last day of operation of the Kitchen in 2023, it has already reached the mark of 5,000 meals delivered.

The 100 beneficiaries form 30 families in a situation of vulnerability, which was verified during the visits carried out in the homes by the young people of the VMY. They are from the neighborhoods Bica, Sítio Higino, and Parque Juarez Queiroz, on the outskirts of the municipality of Cascavel. In order to provide daily and permanent assistance, in addition to the help it receives through donations and partnerships, the social project is funded by the Government of the State of Ceará through the Ceará Without Hunger Program and the technical partnership of the Curumins Institute.

A woman, black, lay, Catholic, and community leader was chosen by the VMY of Cascavel to be honored through the social project, naming the Community Kitchen: Honorata de Paiva Noberto. She made history in Cascavel through her profession at the National Health Foundation, developing actions with people from the periphery at a time when accessibility to health was still a privilege for few. She guided pregnant women and midwives, raised awareness about the importance of vaccines, encouraged alternative feeding in the fight against malnutrition, coordinated the distribution of basic baskets, headed teams of Community Health Agents, and served as Municipal Secretary of Health and Municipal Secretary of Social Assistance.

For the Honorata Noberto Community Kitchen to continue delivering 100 lunches daily, the VMY carries out fundraising actions and divulges its bank details to receive donations. If you wish to contribute from Brazil, you can do so to the Current Account 3244-8 of the Agency 1958 of the Caixa Econômica Federal or to the key pix doeparaomarial@gmail.com; if you are in another country, via international transfer to Iban BR44 0036 0305 0195 8000 0032 448C 1 / Swift Code CEFXBRSP (with approximate rates of 5% of the amount donated).

On March 14th, we will achieve a significant milestone by delivering 10,000 hot dishes through our Community Kitchen. Coincidentally, on the same date, we will celebrate the 87th anniversary of the VMY Cascavel group, which manages this community cuisine. To honor these two important milestones, we plan to hold a special event.
