International Council Candidacies
The 6th International General Assembly of Vincentian Marian Youth will also be an important moment to discern those who will be called to serve in the animation and coordination of the Association at the international level during the coming years.
During the Assembly, delegates from the participating countries will elect the new lay members of the International Council of VMY. These members will have the mission of accompanying, supporting, and strengthening the life of the Association across the different continents and countries where VMY is present.
More than a position of representation, service on the International Council is a call to availability, listening, and missionary commitment. Those elected are invited to place their gifts, talents, and experience at the service of the entire Association, fostering communion among countries, encouraging the formation of young people, and strengthening the evangelizing mission of VMY throughout the world.
For this reason, over the past months, National Councils have been invited to undertake a process of discernment and consultation, identifying young people who may feel called to serve the Association at the international level. To support this process, specific materials were made available, including the International Council’s Manual and the Candidate Application Form, helping countries better understand the responsibilities and commitments involved in serving on the International Council.
Recognizing the importance of this discernment, the Preparatory Commission of the Assembly decided to extend the deadline for submitting candidacies, providing additional time for each National Council to reflect, pray, and dialogue about this important service.
During the General Assembly, participants will have the opportunity to meet the candidates, hear about their motivations and journey within VMY, and discern, in a spirit of prayer and dialogue, those who will be called to assume this international mission.
The election of the new International Council represents far more than a renewal of leadership. It is a moment of trust in the leadership of young people and in the action of the Holy Spirit, who continues to inspire men and women willing to serve the Church, the poor, and the mission of VMY beyond the borders of their own countries.
We entrust this process to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, model of availability and service, so that each candidacy may be lived with generosity and that the Assembly may discern those best suited to help guide the Association in the years ahead.
