Service Camp- Shkodër-Albania
“Love is inventive to infinity” – St. Vincent de Paul
The service camp is a great opportunity for everyone. First, it is a good opportunity for everyone to get to know themselves and to explore the interior of their hearts. Second, it is a good opportunity to get away from the daily routine. It is an experience to get to know a side of us where we can grow but also where we can challenge ourselves.
The service camp, held August 24-31, is an activity where young Vincentians from Kosovo and Albania gather once a year, in the summer, to share and serve their brothers in need, according to the lifestyle of Saint Vincent de Paul. Members of VMY, SSVP, and friends of Famvin took part in this activity, a total of almost 40 young people, accompanied by the DC and CM.
In fact, many young people did not know each other but were united by a common goal: the desire to bring joy, love, care, and laughter to the places we serve.
“Not all of us can do great things, but we all can do small things with great love.” It is these words of Mother Teresa that have encouraged each of us to give the best of us! There are many brothers and sisters that our youth love to serve, like orphans, persons with different abilities, or the elderly in the asylum, all of which are in need of a simple word, a small gesture of love; good words that may be short and easy to say, but the echoes of theirs are truly endless.
The main theme of the camp was “Family.” During the days of service, we also had a lot of time for formation meetings and prayer, which enriched our lives even more.
We are grateful to God and to our beloved Vincentian Family for this great experience.
We thank God for lighting up the hope in each of us to continue to serve and spread in every corner the beauty of the vocation of being a VINCENTIAN, a small light that lights up, shines, and brings the joy of the Gospel where it is most needed!
