VMY Italy at the World Day of the Poor
What the Vincentian Family experienced during the World Day of the Poor was truly extraordinary.
As young members of VMY Italy, we spent two days preparing for the World Day of the Poor, divided into moments of spirituality, service, formation, and a mix of emotions that each of us received as a valuable gift from one another.
The testimonies during the vigil on Friday the 14th touched us deeply and helped us understand how powerful God’s silent presence is within us. The formation allowed us to rediscover the significant impact that the Word of God can have on each person. The dialogue showed us that we are brothers and sisters in a great family. And the service made us the hands of God for those most in need.
Finally, on Sunday, having the privilege of serving lunch in the presence of the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, was an emotionally overwhelming experience. Glances, songs, and moments of sharing crafted the perfect setting for an unforgettable day for each of us, all to give thanks for the 400 years of service by a congregation that, in silence, love, understanding, and fraternity, welcomes others as if they were God. Thank you, Congregation of the Mission.
For 400 years, you have been and continue to be a lighthouse guiding the way to what has gradually become the most beautiful Christian family I could grow and belong to: the Vincentian Family.
